Mumbai based Sharda Sangeet Vidyalaya has invited applications for Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar Award-2018 from amateur classical dancers, vocalists and musicians.
90-year-old Sharda Sangeet Vidyalaya has been organising this competition in the memory of late Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, who was a Hindustani musician and founder of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, to promote Indian Classical Music & Dance and discover new talent and to encourage budding artists.
The competition will be conducted in three age groups up to 12 years, 13- 18 years and 19-25 years. Winners in each group shall be awarded Certificates and cash prizes of Rs. 1100/-, Rs. 751/- and Rs. 501/- respectively to first, second and third positions.
The first prize winners in each group securing 75%+ marks will be awarded Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar Award.
The competition will be conducted for Hindustani Classical Vocal, Hindustani percussion (Tabla, Pakhawaj etc.), Hindustani Instrumental (Sitar, Harmonium, Flute, Sarod, Sarangi etc), Kathak, Bharatanatyam and Odissi dances.
The winners, if selected by the panel of Sharda Sangeet Vidyalaya, may get a chance to perform in the programmes organised by the Vidyalaya.
Competition will be held in Mumbai from 15 to 26 August and the last date to apply is 5th August, 2018
