Canadian delegation to visit Mumbai-Pune to explore tie-ups for Indian Classical Music

A delegation of Music BC Association will be visiting Mumbai and Pune later this year to explore initiatives with all genres and build partnerships, explore stakeholders, learn about traditional music projects and seek common grounds to develop opportunities for symbiotic development.

Music BC Industry Association is a Canada based not-for-profit organisation, which is serving the music industry, artists from all genres, professionals, service providers, studios, promoters, festivals, educational institutes etc. Music BC has been actively involved in pursuing new business ventures in India and has supported Indian Classical music in BC. This year, the delegation of Music BC Industry Association comprises seven diverse professionals. The delegation is led by Alex Grigg, Executive Director, and a veteran music industry professional with over 20 years of experience in the for-profit and non-profit sectors of the entertainment business.

Nina Buddhdev is the delegate for Traditional & Classical genres, she will be meeting Mumbai and Pune based media, festivals, organisations & artists during this visit to explore partnerships, stakeholders, learn about traditional music projects and seek common grounds to move opportunities for symbiotic development. She will be meeting Mumbai and Pune based organisations, artists and festival organisers during this visit.

Nina Buddhdev

Nina holds a prolific background with over twenty years in the field of Pan South Asian Heritage arts. Internationally, Nina has initiated resonant concepts & realized proposals for meaningful impact, benefiting cultural advocacy, stakeholders, funding assets for prominent festivals and the global Indian classical movement as a whole. Her directives, insights and mutuality prove to inspirit a league of progressive initiatives rooted from her arts education, mentorship from esteemed patrons, industry achievements and prestigious awards, which are fondly remembered by legendary artistes & high-level boards. In Canada, Nina directs traditional genres towards visible recognition through, ‘The BANDISH Network’ managed by her independent genre specialist agency, Vois Créatives.

We asked about the focus on traditional & classical music genres, Nina said, “My key objectives are to connect with relevant music festival producers, organisations and groups to build on vital dialogues which reinforce international presence, touring, production and exchange for Indian classical music, both traditional and new works – live, studio and digital. I believe heritage is a universal value the more we engage, the more we evolve”

Music BC has proudly supported Nina Buddhdev’s advocacy for Indian Classical music, who was a key player in ‘The Raga Experience’- the provincial 2018 Junos campaign project for Indian classical music, with BC Sitarist, Sharanjeet Singh Mand (disciple of Pt. Harvinder Sharma). This project brought Indian classical music to mainstream recognition on national and cultural media and with influential community champions, reaching new audiences and igniting diverse interests for the advancement of Indian Classical Music in its authentic form.

Music BC has been actively involved in pursuing new business ventures in India. In 2017, Music BC led a delegation of 5 business professionals and had 2 bands tour to India in addition to performing at the NH7 Festival, Pune.

The delegation will also attend the NH7 Festival in Pune where some BC Bands are invited to perform.

This year’s seven-member delegation Tarun Nayar (Artist-Deli to Dublin/Snakes and Ladders), Aneil Kainth (Intense DJ Services), Nina Buddhdev (The BANDISH Network – Vois Créatives Management), Asad Khan (Artist), Harj Nagra (Artist), Rup Sidhu (Artist- Interdisciplinary), Manisha Jassal (Event Planning & Design), Andrea Graham (Co-Founder/Music Director Bass Coast) and Joseph Blood (Manager –Louise Burns – Light Organ Records) The delegation will also attend the NH7 Festival in Pune where some BC Bands are invited to perform.
